I’ve read all I can read for now from genuine experts, armchair experts, bigots, racists, xenophobes, politicians, atheists, religious persons, and trouble mongers, on the Paris terrorist attacks.
I don’t have the knowledge, the expertise, the wisdom to add to the thousands of words already written.
This woman, journalist Ruby Hamad, born to a Lebanese father and a Syrian mother, says, for mine, the most important things that need to be said. In her article titled Paris attacks: Is solidarity for white terror victims only ? Ms Hamad, without hatred, rancour or the desire for vengeance, says what needs to be said about who is and who is not considered fully human, what it feels like to not make the grade, and who gets to decide.

No Place For Sheep 
Yes very good. I think she’s right. Some of us have been very much aware of the Beirut bombings, but the wall to wall coverage in the mainstream media is very much giving the impression that the West doesn’t care. And to be fair maybe they don’t but nor do I think we really know what to make of it.
I don’t think it had dawned on anyone earlier on that these could be two parts of the same attack, motivated in practically the same way. I suspect what may lie behind it is that ISIS or Al Qaeda or whoever it will eventually have been shown to be are desperately looking to destabilize societies where they recognise social and cultural fault lines exist that they can exploit to radicalise not only other Muslims but right wing extremists as well because that’ll give their cause impetus it lacks and doesn’t deserve.
I think it’s so important that we speak to the call for tolerance and stand together in grieving that it will take time to say all the things that need to be said.

Yes, HG, it will take time. And thought, and silence. So much of what I’m hearing & reading speaks to me of ignorance, self interest and ego.
