Vaya con Dios, The Man Who Fell to Earth

12 Jan

Probably won’t be writing much for the next little while, as I’m leaving for the annual road trip to the Snowy Mountains today, listening to David Bowie all the way.

Haven’t felt so sad about a performer’s death since James Gandolfini carked in 2013.  They leave a hole in the world when they go, these shiningly talented people.

Anyways, be well Sheep people, will catch up again soon and here is Mabel Jane in my arms in a milk coma, because life goes on and who knows who the next shiningly talented person will be?

The pic says it, a life ends, another starts…no use dwelling on a past that can’t be changed or a tomorrow not yet here.

I hope she has a fantastic life.

    Vale David Bowie.

His collaborations with people like Brian Eno, Mick Jagger, Queen, Lou Reed, John Lennon, Robert Fripp and many others were inspirational and seminal. He sparked new trends in music and fashion, though not always for the best ( 😉 )

    He will be missed.

You’re not the only one to mourn the loss of David Bowie. Gorgeous baby.

A little tangential encapsulation, just for holiday viewing, in honour of two of the ‘Related Posts’ links at the bottom of the article.

Some things just cry out for some form of de-ephemeration. Your Miranda writes.

      Hilarious!

You just can’t parody this stuff, it writes itself.

If you substitute “the poor and the underprivileged” for “barbed wire” you might get closer to the mark.

The rightists saw Abbott – and some still see Abbott – as their genuine Messiah.

Perhaps Devine should have said that Abbott died on the Cross so that Turnbull could bring us the Kingdom of Heaven.

      LOL

I guess the mixture of her metaphores is a measure of the value of her message. When did troops wading ashore at Normandy in WWII under fire have time to dig themselves trenches for to go ‘over the top’ from? That was WWI jargon. And no one should know that better than an Australian.

“… this stuff, it writes itself.” Miranda must have lived in mortal dread of the nuns’ 15″ rulers when she was a schoolgirl. Always having all the words at the ready, so that she could hide in the obfuscation. Habit of a lifetime?

I’d prefer to abolish Easter for good. And the other Abrahamic faiths.

The Poms actually passed an Act of parliament in 1928 fixing the date (the first Sunday after the second Saturday in April – if you can call that fixed) but never implemented waiting for the “opinion” of the (wait for it) various Christian Churches.

You can’t hurry these things, you know.

      (DQ rolls eyes.)

Yesterday was a good day. I think I may have helped derail some blogosphere/MSM interface outrage-inciting agitprop. So I’ll embed this entre to the Twitter conversation here:

Another reason yesterday was a good day was that in the process of assisting in this derailment, it became clear to me how to introduce the promised, but long-delayed tangent to the discussion of the Briggs, Dutton, Gayle, and Knox outrages that have monopolized the blogosphere/MSM interface in recent weeks.

It has all been, in my opinion, orchestrated to keep the sidelining of Special Minister of State Mal Brough in the shade. Orchestrated. And by and large the commentariat have risen to the clickbait.

More to follow in due course. I am assuming this thread to be an appropriate place for this tangent, as, having paid our online respects to the passing of David Bowie, there is no subject discussion of Jennifer’s to otherwise appear to hijack.

      Not just the sheep.

I was minding my own business in Poggibonsi, Italy when a Pommy couple came up to me and the man said “You can always tell the Aussies, they always stand in the shade!”

I looked for a label somewhere on me, but I couldn’t find one; so it must be true. 🙂

Not my style, Guinevere. But I wear a Cordobes when playing golf. I think perhaps Aussies have a certain look, as do the French and the Poms. It is there for the astute observer.
