The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
About 55,000 tourists visit Liechtenstein every year. This blog was viewed about 190,000 times in 2012. If it were Liechtenstein, it would take about 3 years for that many people to see it. Your blog had more visits than a small country in Europe!
Happy New Year to all!

This bot-blogging blogpost by WordPus is probably as appropiate a place as any for a post to do with the Fifth Estate, especially in the light of all the blog statistics provided via the text link ‘Click here to see the complete report’.
The review of @GagsGrommit’s ‘The Rise of the Fifth Estate’ contains this surprising observation:
“He explores the history and nature
of the blogosphere, the apparent lack
of women bloggers and its prickly
relationship with mainstream media. …”
I wouldn’t have thought there to be any “apparent lack of women bloggers”. Have I a too-restricted view of the blogosphere, or is it that things have changed rapidly to redress this claimed imbalance?

Suss on a few fronts FG.
Firstly,
WordPress HAS beeen playing up on my XP PC lately.
Yesterday I could not acct for 200MB which was DL’d to my PC.
Even my CCleaner only found half that amount???
Thirdly when I went to your link the popup at the top asked me if the site had permission to ‘store data’ for later use,off-line.
Si I wonder if the actual warning itself is NOT the phishing exercise.
I am not savvy enough to find out from Wordpus.I think it is inevitable that they will eventually get hacked and zillions of bits of data stolen.
What do you know about Mashable?

Hypocritophobe,
There is not much that I can say in respect of this warning, except that I would regard James Kliempt as a trusted source at least for the warning itself. Nicholas Gruen made reference to James Kliempt in this OLO article, about one quarter of the page down on the scroll bar: http://www.onlineopinion.com.au/view.asp?article=12722&page=0
James Kliempt has been involved in introducing the Queensland Police Service to the use of social media, as the article makes clear.
Mashable is a fairly well known technical commentary site, but I can’t add anything more definitive than that.
I simply posted the warning for what it may have been worth for Jennifer’s running of her blog. That there is some sort of web bot information exchange within Twitter, for example, seems apparent from the expanded information in this tweet:
It doesn’t seem to be much of a stretch to believe such info exchange to be able to include interactions with WordPus.
I don’t think Jennifer had any hand in the posting of this ‘2012 in review’ post. Perhaps it is automatically published to the blog by WordPus unless the blog owner un-checks some default setting. It does contain some interesting statistics in relation to ‘Sheep’ which Jennifer may or may not have wished to make generally available.

The full report* lists the numbers of comments; I come in fourth, behind “Hoffmann”, Hudson Godfrey and Paul Walter, and amazingly, ahead of Helvityni.
I suppose Hoffmann is you, Hypocritophobe?
(Jennifer doesn’t count, obviously).

DQ, ahead of me, but why “amazingly”, you have been arguing with Hypo here for weeks, whilst I have popped in maybe once a week to see under which new pseudo my adversary is writing….

A Devine intervention. Is she an apologist for the Catholic church?
This might help readers paint a picture.

There is also a discussion here at the same time about,
why the term Hypo-phobe.
It is not the fear but the dislike which is represented by ‘phobe.’
Those who ‘claim’ to follow Christ’s teachings need to practise what they preach,or they are flat out hypocrites.

To Helvs, and Hypes :
Surely not arguing! A vigorous exchange of views, eh Hypo, in a spirit of brotherly discussions!
As I said before, we see eye to eye on many subjects but choose to discuss the things on which we do not agree. After all, a series of posts saying “Yes how right you are!” and “Well said!” don’t really stir the imagination and stimulate discussion.
And you don’t like my devil’s advocate posts.
PS Keep up the good work on Devine and her ilk.

No I’m not! I couldn’t be more wrong. There are deep divides between me and all those hateful individuals who dare to agree with me!
Chorus : “Yes we are all individuals!!”
(sotto voce) “I’m not.”
But Happy New Year anyway. 🙂
