Gosh so adopted children aren’t real children with real parents. I adopted a grand daughter, isn’t she mine after all because we share no genetic material.

The point is, that the child herself is real, she will grow up like the rest of us, skin her knees running, eat ice cream, all the other stuff that happens in a life. Even if there may be disadvantages (evidence?) in having parents of the same sex, in this case I’d suggest young Alexandra will still have an exponential advantage over kids growing up in drunken, abusive, dysfuctional “normal” homes.
So let’s wish her well and hope she tastes of the things of life we have tasted, rather than cavilling over technicalities and superficialities.

Steve’s euphoria will increase when he learns from ABC news, that a denominational school refused enrollment for the child of gay couple, on those grounds. Real Van Graffhorst stuff, from the ‘eighties imho, when a littlegirl who had accidentally become aids positive was driven out of the country by neighbourhood vigilantes, to the delight of New Zealand, where, as is the practice there, enthusiastically embraced that which Australia spurns.
No doubt SATP will campaign on the school’s rights, rather than the welfare of the kid, I think the response makes a travesty of the Xtian message.
As a doco on SBS the other night, the Catholic hierarchy attitude to matters sexual derives momentum from the Epistle to Timothy, a work now not regarded as genuinely Pauline; rather at the least some thing edited by early church fathers to shore up their authority within the new religion, and the beginnings of Christian involvement with Puritanism and guilt trips, as mechanism for social control within the group.

Being the family genealogist, one unregarded factor in in-vitro births is that DNA testing, especially in the cases of inherited traits or diseases from one parent becomes murky, Does anyone know if this information is made available (ie who was the missing parent) for medical reasons if heaven forbid the child shows signs of a symptom later in life?

I don’t know, but I do know I have no knowledge at all abut my biological father and his family, so I’ve run into difficulties medically because of that. I wasn’t IVF – he just buggered off!

I love your chicken it looks like a chicken angel without my glasses. With my glasses it looks like a jolly astro chook. I went shopping without glasses yesterday and had to ask another shopper what something said on the back of a packet. As she walked away I heard her say to her male partner: “That poor lady can’t read.”
It was soo hard not to yell out, Yes I can I just forgot my glasses. But I didn’t.

You are totally right, music is the only way to get through cleaning. I might have left the egg up there as an artwork, but there’s this cocktail party thing happening here tomorrow evening and the rest of the household have this neurotic need to clean the place up. I just buggered off for the morning under the pretense of getting last minute supplies but got texted home again to chop up bloody chicken wings or something. Should have turned the phone off.
I’m not very domestic anymore. I was once but I grew out of it. What I really want to do is write something about Christopher Hitchens who I admired and who died yesterday. I got into a Twitter fight last night with someone who doesn’t admire him one bit, and I’ve got all these ideas flying round and I have to hack up bloody fowls. If I was on Twitter now I’d sign off: #thwarted creativity. Happy holidays!
